This one, here….
Meg + Lars are actually great friends of ours. Tommy (my boyfriend) introduced me to Meg at Newport Folk Fest about 4 years back and as a fellow music lover, adventurer, photographer, and easy-going human being, we got along great. She’s the type of person that will give you an arm and leg and not complain about it – the type of gal that once you meet her, she already feels like an old friend. Meg is actually also a wedding photographer in Newport (she is TA-LENT-ED!) as well as the photographer for TEDXNewport. She loves the charm of Newport and being beside the ocean, so naturally – when planning hers and Lars’ wedding – it was obvious they had to have their intimate ceremony at one of their favorite places – the rock on Brenton Point.
This was such a touching wedding to both shoot and be a part of as this love story is one of my favorites. Meg + Lars have both been through their fair share of ‘stuff’ in the past before finding each other (like many of us). Lars was living in Switzerland when the two met online through a perfect mixture of mutual friends and coincidences. Sparks obviously flew once they began talking and after one visit to the US, the pair decided he must come back – and SOON. That second trip came and Meg (being the explorer she is) planned a 27 day cross-country road trip to show Lars all of her favorite corners of the US. I can’t say I’m not extremely jealous…and the fact that BOTH of them are photographers, seeing the photos totally didn’t help my envy! No sooner after they returned, Lars asked Meg to marry him with a gorgeous moonstone ring that he purchased on the trip. She said yes, and I bet you can guess that he never booked a return flight home! And, what makes the story better…the two officially started talking (wait for it..) A YEAR AGO, yesterday! When you know, you know…ya know? Like I said, these two are one of my favorite love stories :)
So, without hesitation, the wedding planning started. And for all my brides out there – listen closely..THESE TWO planned a wedding in TWO weeks. If that doesn’t give you anxiety, I don’t quite know what would – ha! (Big shoutout to Amanda at Hidden Host Events for helping with the wedding planning!). Meg, being a wedding photographer, surrounded herself with friend vendors (friendors?) including her sister-in-law Susan as the officiant, and Tommy for the acoustic ceremony music. A few close friends and Meg’s family gathered on the oceanside rock for the ceremony. Afterward, a small private party was held at another favorite place in downtown Newport – Norey’s. Unfortunately, Lars’ family wasn’t able to attend because of the short notice, but the two did facetime them and sing happy birthday to his mother.
After the party, we ventured off to take some more intimate bride + groom portraits at Purgatory Chasm, where they shared another dance on the rocks while Tommy played guitar. Dreamy?! Yes. It was.
Congratulations to two of my favorite people. I am SO happy for you both!!
