Clients turned friends – that’s pretty darn awesome. I lovelovelove it when I meet a couple and it just instantly clicks…you know that later on down the road, after wedding celebrations are done and images are in their hands, you’ll still be shooting the bride a random text about Taco Thursdays and calling to meet up for lunch as you swing through town. I say it as often as I brush my teeth, but my favorite thing about being a wedding photographer (or photographer in general) is the constant new faces and kind souls that I meet.
Kenzi + Zach are just that – two of the kindest and warm-hearted souls I have been lucky enough to meet so far. I knew this was true after just 5 minutes of shooting their engagement photos. After being with them and their closest family + friends on their wedding night, that proved to be true tenfold. It was so clear that everyone thought the world of this couple, and they are so deserving of each other.
I think we also need to acknowledge this absolutely fantastic venue that K + Z found for their big day. As someone who adores antique style anything, this was a dream! The Barlow House is a historic mansion built in the early 1800’s and sits on 5 acres of land surrounded by farmland in Fairfield, VT. There are a couple gorgeous old barns on the property with a little pond. The ladies had the whole house to get ready and the ceremony took place right in the backyard, with the reception to follow just next to that, in the big barn. Walking into the barn + house felt like walking into a legit antique mall with knick knacks and little history gems everywhere.
Zach and his groomsmen are big sports/game guys, so they went all out with sport-themed socks and made sure to have a couple footballs and baseballs on standby to fill in any (and all) spare time they had. To keep guests busy, they had a variety of games scattered on the lawn for cocktail hour and reception. A huge checkers board, tic-tac-toe, tee-ball, corn hole, and more.
By the end of the night, the DJ had everyone on the dance floor (Kenzi’s grandma was showing everyone all the moves!) and I literally thought the floor was going to cave in. Zach ripped his shirt throwing a football, so of course Kenzi thought the best thing to do was turn it into a sleeveless by ripping the other arm off too. I love it when there is extra good material to photograph by the end of the night, once everyone has celebrated :)
Side note (an extra amazing one): I even got to join in on Kenzi’s bachelorette party fun by meeting the girls at Gillette Stadium for a Coldplay concert…which was incredible! We tailgated, drank margaritas, ate Mexican food, and played bridal mad-libs…oh, and watched an AMAZING concert, too! ;) Thank you again for inviting me, Kristin! You ladies are the absolute best!
Kenzi + Zach, you guys mean the world to me, thank you so much for having me there with you for your big day. Congratulations!
