Holy Moly! I am so excited to share this gorgeous sunset session!
This shoot was SO much fun. Kelly + Fred emailed me a few months back with the idea of doing a little fun photoshoot while they were vacationing on Martha’s Vineyard for their ‘babymoon’ (how cute is that!?). The only other time I had ‘been’ to MV was on a few yacht photoshoots with my former boss – Billy Black – where we generally stayed in the harbor. Though it was fun to shoot the gorgeous boats, I was really excited to explore the land aspect of the island!
This is Kelly + Fred’s first child, so as soon as they picked me up from the ferry to drive to our photoshoot location I could easily sense the excitement in their voices as they told me about themselves and the baby. We chatted in the car during the 30 minute ride to Aquinnah and by the time we got to our location, I had felt like we were old friends already. It’s always so important to me to be able to get to know clients a little bit before we start shooting – it really helps them feel comfortable and show me true, natural expressions.
We ended up parking a little far down the beach at Gay Head Cliffs with a plan to walk the beach and snap photos as the sun got lower. Little did we know that we were actually going to get a good hike in! Kelly was SUCH a champ walking the not-so-sandy New England rocky coastline (on a whim) with a bun in the oven! It was all made so worth it though as the sun dropped low in the sky and showed up that GORGEOUS golden light across the cliffs.
Kelly and Fred, you are going to be incredible parents! Fred V is a very lucky little boy. Wishing you all the love and happiness in the world as you enter in this new phase of your life together!
