So excited to share this wedding! One of the highlights of my 2017 season was to be there to not only photograph, but also to be a guest as my good friend Justine and her (now husband) Kevin joined in marriage. Justine was one of my first friends while attending Hallmark Institute of Photography, and we sticked by each others side throughout our whole (stressful!) school journey. It’s fair to say we both have some pretty ridiculous blackmail on each other (mostly in the form of stories, but also decade-old photos) – which means it’s also fair to say we’ll most definitely remain close friends ;)
Justine is a genius DIY crafty lady, so most of the reception details, gifts, etc. were the product of her hard work and skills. Literally – WAIT until you see the reception details! They were SO gorgeous and fit in with the mood/theme of the day so well – which we pretty perfectly deemed as “rustic romantic”. It was my first time shooting at The Ranch Golf Club and I was so impressed with how gorgeous the venue was. The ladies spend the morning getting ready at the Farmhouse at the Ranch (which conveniently sat overlooking the reception barn/ceremony site) while the guys prepared for the day at the couple’s condo. The ceremony was simple and extremely heartfelt with definitely a few tears shed – especially Kevin ;)
One of my favorite parts of the wedding day is during the reception when I can sneak the couple away for sunset portraits. Besides the fact it is such a magical and beautiful time of day, it’s so nice to give the couple a little breather from all the excitement and let them be alone together to enjoy the moment. The photos we normally get from this portion are so dang pretty and natural. For Justine and Kevin, we stole a couple golf carts and took off into the rolling hills of the golf course. Of course, my beautiful bride of a friend wanted to jump on a hay bail for a photo – and of course, what bride wants..bride gets!! They turned out to be our FAVORITE photos of the night. I am SO in love with these two as a couple and my memories of this time together during their big day <3
*Special shoutout! I was joined in photographing the day with one of my favorite 2nd shooters (and another very close friend from Hallmark!), Christina Pelland (of Made In Stills). She was also IN the bridal party, so we both tackled the bridal getting ready portion of the day together as well as the details + bride/groom portraits, while I took over the parts of the day where she had wedding party duties! ;) Shout out to this badass boss lady – she knows her stuff, is TALENTED, a kickass best friend/bridesmaid, and can multi-task like a pro!
Congratulations again to this sweet, sweet couple. Love you both so much and I am SO happy for you!
(also…because I am so late to blogging this wedding – they are now already pregnant and expecting a BOY!! Woohoo – happy for you guys x2!!!)
